There is no more recognizable symbol of Penn State than the Nittany Lion. In 1942, Heinz Warneke sculpted the Nittany Lion from a thirteen ton block of Limestone. Today it's more recognizable than Old Main and visited more than the Creamery. Now you can enjoy this beautiful Lion shrine crafted on an elm wood base. This replica is a lasting remembrance of your days at Penn State. Whether purchased for you or a fellow Penn Stater, the Nittany Lion replica is sure to be enjoyed and honored by generations to come. This statue's solid and impeccable construction makes it worthy of heirloom status. Heinze Warneke designed the mold for the Nittany Lion statuette and supervised its manufacture exclusively for the Penn State Alumni Association until his death in 1983. The Penn State Elms Collection official mark is branded onto the back of the lion statue along with Mr. Warneke's signature.
